Kia Ora!
My name is Imogen and it is such an honour to have you visit! The first thing you need to know about me is that while I am far from perfect, I know that I am wholly loved by my perfect Saviour. Knowing this is what keeps me going every single day.

Born and raised in Hamilton, New Zealand, I’ve been blessed to grow up in a Christian family who knew how to love and serve others around us. My family are all brainiacs, working in technological and scientific fields. I, however, felt called down a different path; writing stories, getting crafty, and in 2014, graduated with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching.

However, that season didn’t last too long. As of 2024, I am working part time at One Mission Society New Zealand heading the social media, design, and marketing department. In addition to this role, I am a trainer for our Human Trafficking Prevention ministry called HOPE61.

I am a huge lover of movies and music. This is a definite addiction but one that God is using for His glory! He is teaching me, through the illustration of movies, some big life lessons! So I’m warning you now, you will see A LOT of movie references in this blog.

The idea for this blog came to me in April 2020, when New Zealand was in its first Covid-19 lockdown. God put a burden on my heart to reach out to girls and young women who were feeling lost. Lost in why they are here on earth; lost in their identity, lost in what they have to offer the world. It breaks my heart knowing there are women who do not realise they were created for such an incredible purpose.
The Mission of Gifted by Light.

I believe this ministry, Gifted by Light, was God ordained. God is the light of this world, our one true source of life. There are two big things I believe God has gifted us with. The first gift being His Son Jesus, because of Him, we are able to be free.
Second, God has gifted us with talents, skills, and characteristics that make us unique; these are the things we must use to bring God’s light into this dark world.
This ministry’s tagline is ‘Faith, Films and Finding Freedom’. At its core, this is a faith based blog that uses the illustration of movies to help women find freedom.
This ministry is also a big believer in community and supporting each other. This isn’t just a blog to share my experiences, but we’ll hear life changing testimonies from beautiful and real women who will share what’s worked for them. We are strongest when we are united in love.
